Engaging children to worship during covid 19 can be challenging. However, just because we cannot sing, doesn’t mean we cannot worship. Reading the Psalms aloud together is a great way to help children engage in Biblical worship. The book of Psalms was the song book of Israel. It recounted God’s faithfulness and goodness throughout Israel’s history. It is filled with deep emotions of pain, despair, anguish and laments as Israel poured out their heart before the Lord. Even in the lowest points in time when it seemed like God had forsaken Israel, the Psalms brought God’s people comfort and hope through the prophecies of the coming Messiah, Jesus.

When we read the Psalms:

  • We align our hearts with God’s will as we declare God’s authority over the earth.
  • We build up each other’s faith as we declare God’s faithfulness.
  • We see things from God’s perspective as we declare His promises.

Each Psalm includes a set of questions at the end for reflection and a teacher’s guide.
