1 Samuel 23: God is your ever-present help

God is there to guide you.

In uncertain times, God is there to guide you. You can ask God for confirmation before make major decisions in life. When you consult God, He will give you insight into the future so that you can make good decisions.

David’s conversation with God shows us what communicating with God looks like. Being in a relationship with God means that we can have a two-way conversation with Him. In the Old Testament, people communicated with God in several says. Some people like Abraham, Moses and Samuel spoke to God directly. It was also common for God to speak to individuals through the priests and prophets. In the New Testament, God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit (John 16:13, John 14:26, 1 Corinthians 2:10).

What is the difference between the way God communicates to His people in the Old Testament and the New Testament? (Read John 16:13)

Have you ever had a similar experience where you communicated with God?

God is there to protect you.

Psalm 46:1 tells us that God is our very preset help in time of need. David experienced God’s protection in the midst of great opposition. Despite having a bigger army, Saul could not penetrate God’s protection over David. The Ziphites betrayed David but God intervened, allowing David to escape. The Philistine attack was not a coincidence but a distraction caused by God in order to deliver David from Saul.
